Another debut hour! Fittingly for Anna Thomas’s personality, this is a show that is bounding with ideas, throwing a lot of them at the wall and seeing what sticks. To her credit, a lot of it does! The banjo is sadly underutilised (never quote me on that), and the floor is littered with remmants of single-use punchlines, but sometimes there’s a reveal of something that can’t help but pause the show as everyone else catches up, and this will be beautifully underplayed. It’s a show as full of punchlines as it is potential for punchlines, angles that could be mined much deeper but still couldn’t have come from anyone else. I can’t wait to see how she develops this in future shows, and it’s a strong start here.
