Incredibly fun to start a show with this level of wrong-footing from an act. Even before that particular instance, one of the first things to happen on stage is a conversation with a woman in the front row about her botox usage, which is such a hilariously overconfident way to start a show that it completely works. Hull is a whipsmart writer and performer - there are some absolutely gorgeous joke-shaped jokes in here (still dying at the Fawlty Towers one), and she’s nailed the ability to be engaging and likeable whilst being exceptionally mean. The whole thing absolutely does not feel like a lunch time show in MB1, which is testament to her.
