Fandom overload for me, this one. An exhibition dedicated to 30 years of collaboration between Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood, covering Radiohead, Atoms For Peace, The Smile, and Yorke’s solo work. It is stunning to see the original canvases for the Hail To The Thief and A Moon Shaped Pool covers in the flesh. Towards the beginning of the exhibition, there’s a wall of just album/EP/single covers that really just hits home the breadth of the work they’ve done. The sketchbooks and notebooks are fascinating, the giant tapestry from The Smile era is huge, and even though the Kid Amnesiae virtual exhibition is represented only through pre-recorded video, it remains intriguing to imagine what might have been had it not been for Covid, with that situated in a physical space.
