It is our first night in Barcelona, and having enjoyed our burgers, dessert was in order. Unfortunately, there’s nothing really for Alasdair at the restaurant, so we go foraging.
We didn’t, in the end, forage particularly far, ending up in a cafĂ© pretty much just round the corner. He spotted a number of vegan baked goods in the window and so in we went, to order him a fine looking slice of pistachio cake.
I however went for some churros - when in Rome, etc. The woman at the counter gave me the option of either a hot chocolate or a more formal dipping sauce, and in hindsight I should have taken the dipping sauce.
The churros, sans a coating of sugar or anything, were somewhat plain - don’t get me wrong, nice, but plain, and obviously that doesn’t work with the less strong hot chocolate drink versus the (presumably) thicker, richer dipping chocolat..
The hot chocolate itself is very nice, though, a far cry from the watered Cadburys powder you can come to expect in most places in the UK. Already we’re winning.
