After seemingly all the outposts having been closed for some time, it turns out Pinkmans has opened shop in Bristol Cathedral, so Ruth and I end up there for a weekend coffee. I’m very excited to have my first Pinkmans donut in some time, seeing as they used to be the best donuts in Bristol. Unfortunately, I’m disappointed immensely by my old favourite, the honeycomb filled donut. The filling is slightly curdled, overworked, the texture all wrong and claggy and thus souring the flavour of it. There’s also all together too much of it compared to the dough itself, so it’s hard to really salvage. Ruth’s white chocolate and raspberry one seems to fare much better. Ah well.
