The last day of the trip begins at it ever does with lunch at Loudons, I typically cycle through my favourite menu options, and this year I’m back to the croque madame french toast. An eggy brioche toastie of ham, emmental cheese, and bechamel sauce, topped with a beautiful chilli jam and a fried egg (with some rocket and pickled shalllots on the side for balance). It takes a while to be able to get my fruit scone (and for some reason I have to then ask for the clotted cream that the menu says it comes with) and a salted caramel hot chocolate (altogether too much, but that’s my fault not theirs). A lovely grounding experience before the final sprint.
