The original plan was to head into Bologna for dinner, but on reaching the hotel, there is no way we’re managing that, for we are knackered. A bit of research throws up Carina, a chic little pasta bar doing something a bit more interesting, and just down the road from us. The menu is full of grilled pasta skewers, pasta fritti, and tigelle, the local delicacy of round, filled bread parcels. A Hugo spritz is very refreshing whilst we wait for the “tagliere”, the chef’s selection from across the menu. We’re presented with a bountiful platter of all of the above. My non-vegan options include a skewer of cappellacci of speck and scamorza, dressed with balsamic, honey, and walnuts; tigelle of different doughs with some mortadella and parma ham; and a beetroot dough tortelli stuffed with Tuscan soup. An odd brownie concoction is my dessert, not quite texturally what I was expecting but still delicious. We are asked whether we are here for the concert, and I don’t know what gives it away, but of course they can smell it on us. It turns out that they are catering for Radiohead, and that’s very exciting - evidently we have chosen well.
