One of the crucial elements of a city break, alongside tall religious buildings and cheap alcohol, is an art museum, preferably modern art. So what luck to stumble on MAMbo during our “killing time before the hotel check in opens” period. Highlights include an original Keith Haring - getting to actually see the felt-tip strokes of the block figures genuinely elevates it. I am too tired to fully internalise the temporary exhibition projecting an allegorical 35mm film about Saint Anthony bringing fire to hell projected onto a burnt out fire truck. There’s a piece the size of a whole wall which is - genuinely - the spitting image of the cover art to the EP I did a few years ago. Wild.
