Good Grief (2023)

2024-01-06

  1. A fascinating insight into what you do after great success and how you’re maybe best not trying to do what’s expected.

  2. I’d be intrigued to see what the sitcom/long-running series of this might have looked like, and why Dan Levy chose to make this instead.

  3. As it stands, there’s not much to either ground the story or characters, nor is there much depth to explore. Levy’s character bounces around the titular grief, but it feels weightless somehow.

  4. It is, though, at times very funny and at times heartbreaking. The initial reading of the note is, if maybe a tad overplayed, a bolder move than might have been expected.

  5. If not an overly illustrious start to a silver screen writing career for Levy, it’s also not a death knell. I do still look forward to whatever’s next.
